Kart Management Group is responsible for all aspects of the management of F1 Boston including operations, sales, advertising, marketing, and financial controls.
Richard ‘RJ’ Valentine, President & CEO
RJ, President/CEO of F1 Boston, is the founder of The MBA Group. He is a graduate of Suffolk University, Chairman of MBA Capital Management, and a principal in all entities developed by The MBA Group of Companies. He is also licensed as a professional driver in the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) and the International Motorsports Association (IMSA). He has been driving competitively for more than 25 years, and, in 2009 crossed the finish line bringing home the world-renowned Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona Grand-Am title. He has extensive experience in motorsports and motorsports marketing and is widely recognized in the management and development of racing teams and series.
Karen Quast, General Manager
As GM, Karen brings extensive knowledge in technology to F1 Boston from her background in technology consulting. Prior to joining F1 Boston, she was involved in technology infrastructure consulting for investment trading floors in New York City, Boston, San Francisco, and Connecticut. At F1, she has developed a database warehouse for internal database management, and has implemented a custom software program for sales/lead management and event contract management/scheduling. A member of the World Karting Association, she is an accomplished outdoor kart racer, who competes nationally.
Peter Lake, CFO
Peter is the Chief Financial Officer for the MBA Group of Companies. Since 1986 he has helped the Group achieve their many entrepreneurial successes. He has been involved with F1 Boston since the facility started being built in 1999 and has worked with more than 50 different entrepreneurial businesses throughout his career. These businesses have included startup situations, high growth development, mergers and acquisitions. A graduate of Babson College’s School of Management, Peter began his career working with Ernst & Young as an Information Technology Audit Specialist in the Boston Office’s Entrepreneurial Services Group. When not working, Peter enjoys spending time with his family including his wife Gail and 4 beautiful girls. He is also a fan of all sports.
Steve Sweeney, Operations Manager
Steve has been with F1 Boston since 1999 prior to becoming Operations Manager he spent 28 years in the Fire Service and retired as a Captain, a certified FF I/II, Fire Instructor 1, EMT-I and AHA Instructor. His extensive background in Fire, Rescue and Emergency Medical Services he brings extensive knowledge in organizational safety and operations. While at F1 he has served as Safety Officer, Track Manager and Race Director for the Red Bull Driver Search and the Annual Seaside LeMans Charity Race on Cape Cod. At F1 he oversees the hiring, training, scheduling and payroll of employees along with the formatting and facilitating of corporate and private team building and racing events.
Kathy Gobbi, Restaurant & Catering Manager
Kathy has been with F1 Boston since 2003. Her responsibilities include managing the Ascari Café and Bar as well as all aspects of Corporate/Private Events and Catering. Prior to F1 Boston, she was the District Controller/Office Manager for the food service company, All Seasons Services, from 1984-2003. Kathy has a degree in Business Administration and is an avid Boston sports Fan.
Adriano Rodrigues, Executive Chef
Adriano is the Executive Chef for the Ascari Restaurant & Bar, overseeing all kitchen operations for both diners at our trackside venue, as well as the catering services for F1 Boston’s private and corporate event clients. He joined F1 Boston in 2011 after working with renowned Chefs Robert de Simone and Marisa Iocco at the celebrated Sagra Ristorante in Davis Square, honing his skill for cooking with an Italian flare. At Ascari, Adriano blends his Italian culinary influences with traditional American cuisine to develop our spectacular menu. Aside from his passion for the culinary arts, Adriano is a self-confessed nature lover and a Certified Dive Master who, when not in the kitchen, can be found spear-fishing for lobster in Cape Cod Bay.
Yvette Tenoria, Leagues & Schools Director
Yvette joined F1 Boston in the Spring of 2015, overseeing the Leagues & Schools operations for both the Adult and Junior programs, including the Junior Academies. Bringing a wealth of experience competitive kart racing management, she was Director of Karting for three years at New Jersey Motorsports Park. Yvette also handled timing and scoring with the Gear Up F-Series. With a passion for competitive cheer and dance, she also has experience coaching an All-Star cheerleading team and was a part of the All American NCA (national cheerleading association) Team.
Jin Omae, Crew Chief
Jin is the Crew Chief for F1 Boston, F1 Outdoors and RiMO USA. He oversees all aspects of kart maintenance and repair at both indoor and outdoor facilities. Jin also works in sales, part service, and customer support for RiMO USA. Born and raised in New York City, he moved to Massachusetts to attend Universal Technical Institute. At UTI Jin studied under the automotive, diesel, and industrial program and Graduated in 2013. While attending school, he started at F1 Boston in February of 2012 as a kart technician. In 2014, Jin was elevated to Crew Chief for the facilities.
Natalie Walden, Executive Assistant
Natalie is F1 Boston’s trustworthy and highly efficient Executive Assistant. Working closely with the Sales and Events Team, her busy days are spent in project management, coordinating event scheduling and sales inquiries. She also provides on-going administrative duties for General Manager Karen Quast. She been with the F1 Boston team for over 13 years.
