F1 Boston Winter/Spring Junior League Race Report: Round 2
 
Braintree, MA (January 25, 2012) – Round 2 F1 Boston’s Winter/Spring Junior League took place January 21 – 22 and with just two rounds in the books it’s already shaping up as another great race season. Here’s a look at the highlights:
 
Only four points separated the top four in Group 1AA. Jason Cheal grabbed the honors with 29 points fueled by winning his first heat, placing second in heat two and fifth in his final, plus two fast lap bonus points. Cheal stands in fourth place in the season standings. Joe Acero was just a point back for second place – he won his first heat and finished second in the next two for 28 points. He leads the season standings with 53 total points. Peter Linscott placed third at 27 points by winning his second race and taking third and fourth in the other two. At 44 points he’s fifth in the standings. Derek Creutz was fourth with 26 points and Simon White grabbed 22 points for fifth. Nathan Laverdure (21 points in the round) and Nikolai Gabardi (20 points) are tied for second in the standings.
 
In Group 1A, Christian Rogers grabbed the victory by taking third in the first two heats and winning the final to earn 28 points. He’s in second place in the season standings with 55 points. Jonathan Schores was second with 26 points highlighted by winning his first race and taking second in the middle heat. Schores hangs onto the top spot in the standings with a total of 61 points. Danny Rounds took third, placing second in his final two heats and earning 24 points. Jakob Richardson was fourth, a point back at 23 – he’s third in the standings. Luke Marcheski earned 20 points for fifth place in the round, tying him for third place with Richardson in the standings. Jake Yazijian (18 points in the round) is fifth in the standings just a point back from Richardson and Marcheski.
 
Once again Group 1B enjoyed a huge field and very close racing – 3 points separated the top five. Top honors went to Deanna Horacio, earning 27 points by placing second in her first two heats, fourth in the final and earning a fast lap. The victory put her in a tie at the top of the series standings with Christian Abbate at 55 points. Chris Pelletier, running in his first round of the series, was second with 25 points highlighted by winning heat one and taking second in his second run. A logjam of Christian Abbate, Nicholas Hewer and Patrick Doyle earned 24 points to share third place. The round helped Abbate tie for the top spot in the standings with Horacio, while Doyle is 3 points back at 52.
 
Matthew Stearns dominated the action Group 2AA’s second round. Stearns won all three of his heats and earned two fast lap points for a total of 32. The round propels him into the season lead with 51 points. Austin Cederquist was next with 25 points by placing second in all three of his heats. He’s also second in the standings with 47 points. Third place went to Dylan Villa, highlighted by winning his final heat and placing second in heat two, plus a fast lap for 23 points. Dylan has 46 total points for third in the series points race. Josh Melnick grabbed 21 points for fourth place – placing fourth in the standings with 39. Ryan Kuhn (17 points in the round; 37 total) takes fifth in both the round and the series.
 
Group 2A’s Roee Meyuhas grabbed the top honors by winning the first heat and placing second in the last two for a total of 26. The round jumps Meyuhas into first place in the standings with 52 points and a 20-point lead on the pack. In his first round of the season, Michael Toner was second with 24 points by winning the second heat and taking third in the other two. Ryan Locke was third with 18 points highlighted by winning the final heat. With 32 total points, Locke is second in the series standings. Colin McMullen was fourth with 17 points – also fourth in the standings with 27 points. Evan Dawley was next with 16 points in the round and third in the standings with 29. Joshua Fastert rounded out the scoring with 10 points.
 
Five points separated the top six finishers in Group 2B – and the top three are only two points apart. Jack Bennett and Quinn Yardley tied at the top with 27 points. Bennett – who remains on top of the leader board with 57 points – won his second and third heats, placed third in the first and earned a fast lap point. Yardley won two heats and took fourth in the other for a share of first place. It was Yardley’s first round of the series. Reagan Parent took third with a win, a second and a fourth, plus three fast laps for 26 points. Parent is second in the standings at 53. Hayden Duffy grabbed 23 points and fourth place, highlighted by winning a heat and place second and fourth in the other two. Duffy is also fourth in the standings with 43 points. Thomas Briggs placed second twice and third in the other heat for fifth place with 22 points. Briggs is third in the points chase at 44.
 
Group 3A’s Mason Lukowski grabbed victory with 25 points in his first round of the season. He scored the top spot by winning the last two heats and placing fourth in the first. Alec Schmidt was second with 23 points, including two-second place finishes and a third. Schmidt is in first place in the standings with 49 points. Joey DeAscentis and Ronan Quinn rounded out the scoring with 21 points each. Quinn is second in the standings with 47 points and DeAscentis is third with 41.
 
In Group 3B, Ryan MacDonald won by an 8-point margin with 31 points.  MacDonald won two heats, placed second in the other and also grabbed all three fast lap points – he’s on top of the season standings with 57 points. Danielle Lawton was second with 23 points, highlighted by winning the first heat and placing second in the final. Lawton is also second in the standings with 48 points. Ido Meyuhas was third with 18 points, placing third on all three races, and stands in fourth place for the series with 40 points. Alyssa Abbate was next with 17 points, including a second place finish in heat two. She is in fifth place in the standings one point back at 39. Nehal Ramlukan (13 points) and Kevin Norton (9 points) rounded out the scoring. Ramlukan is third in the season standings with 41 points.
 
Junior League competitors may enter as many rounds as desired – drivers competing for the season championships must attend at least 7 rounds. Points in each round are awarded to the by the top 10 finishers in descending order, with the drivers turning in the fastest lap in each race picking up an extra point. The top 6 drivers from each class will earn a spot in the Season Finale. Standing are updated after each event and can be found at www.F1Boston.com/league_results.htm. The League is open to all drivers with F1 Boston Junior Competition License that have completed an F1 Boston Junior Novice Racing Academy or Camp.
