F1 Boston’s Winter Adult League: Rookie Round Four Report
Braintree, MA (March 2, 2012) – Round four of F1 Boston’s Adult Rookie League is in the books and with jus
t two rounds left, time is getting short for drivers to make a move in the standings and qualify for the Championship Finale. Here’s a look at the highlights from both divisions.Heavy Weight Division
In heavyweight, David Rogers won his third straight event by matching his 39-points from round three – he won the first heat and placed second in the other two, plus a fast lap point. Rogers remains atop the series standings leading the field by 12 points at 131. Samual Bradley grabbed second place by winning the last two heats and taking fifth in heat #1 for 35 points. With 119 points, Bradley is second in the season-long standings. Stephan Ramponi was third, earning 32 points by placing second in the first heat and third in the other two – he’s also third in the points chase at 114. David Olbrych took fourth, placing top five in each heat for 22 points. With 19 points in the round highlighted by a third place finish in the first heat, Wayne Penn moves into fourth place in the season standings at 92. David Dudley rounded out the top five with 17 points. Michael Egasti, 11 points in the round, is fifth in the standings at 87.
Light Weight Division
In the lightweight division, Sean Neal took honors for the third time this season. He placed second in heat #1 before winning his final two races, plus two fast laps to earn 42 points. Neal remains on top of the leader board with 161 points – 15 points ahead of the field. Jonathan Zombeck was second with 36 points powered by winning his first heat, taking second in heat #2 and third in his final. Zombeck is second in the standings with 146 points. Third place went to Anthony Cuddemi, placing third in heat #1, second in his middle race and fifth in his final, plus a fast lap for 29 points. With 108 points, Cuddemi moves into fourth in the standings. Fourth place was a tie between Steven Carvalho and Joseph Fonseca at 26 points. Carvalho’s round was highlighted by placing second in his final heat and third in the second – he’s now third in the standings at 113. Fonseca won his first heat and placed fourth in his middle heat, also earning a fast lap point. Toby Bloom, 17 points in the round, is fifth in the standings with 107 points.
The F1 Boston Adult Winter League offers racing in three classes: Pro, Sprint and Rookie. All three offer six rounds of competition – each round features a practice session and three races – points are earned towards a season ending Final Championship Race, with the top 6 drivers in each weight class advancing to the Finals. The format includes one race drop; five of the six rounds count towards determining who makes it to the Championships. All races take place at F1 Boston, a state-of-the-art facility featuring two top-notch, European styled courses. Here are the current Rookie League standings:
