F1 Boston’s Winter Adult Sprint League: Round Six Report
Braintree, MA (April 6, 2012) – F1 Boston’s Winter Sprint League final round of the season took place this week and the competition was intense as season standings were finalized and champions crowned. Here’s a look at the action:
 
Heavy Weight Division
In the heavy weight division Mark Morin took the honors in Round 6, scoring 39 points powered by winning his first two heats and placing third in the other, plus a fast lap point. Morin climbs into second place for the series at 162. Robert Bain grabbed 36 points, placing second in all three heats – he takes the series crown with a season total of 170. Antonio Brito, Jr. was third, winning his second heat, placing fourth in the others plus a fast lap for 31 points. Brito took third in the final standings just a point behind Morin at 161. John Chetwynd, David Burton and James Shepard all earned 22 points and a share of fourth place. The highlight of Chetwynd’s round was winning his final heat; at 150, he takes fourth place for the series. Burton placed top five in all three of his heats and lands in fifth place at 118 in the standings. 
 
Light Weight Division
In the lightweight division, Nicholas Leung won his first round of the season, earning 40 points by winning his first two heats and placing second in the final. At 161, Leung takes second in the season-long points chase. Steve Hathaway locked up the season championship by earning 36 points and second place in the round by winning his final heat, placing third in the others, plus a fast lap point. His 197-point season total is 36 clear of the field. Nathan Hedberg took third, placing second twice and fourth in the final for 32 points, earning third place for the season at 148. Anthony Autiello was fourth in a round highlighted by winning his final heat and grabbing a fast lap for 29 points. Kevin Willever rounded out the top 5 by placing third in the middle heat and fourth in the others – he takes fourth for the series with 144 points. Steve Maka (14 points in the round) grabs fifth place for the season at 131.
 
Next up for the Sprint League is the Championship Final for the top 8 in each divsion.  The F1 Boston Adult Winter League offers racing in three classes: Pro, Sprint and Rookie. Each class offers six rounds of competition – rounds include a practice session and three races. The format includes one race drop; five of the six rounds count towards determining who makes it to the Championships. All races take place at F1 Boston, a state-of-the-art facility featuring two top-notch, European styled courses. Here are the current Pro League standings:
