2011 Fall Frenzy Rd 6

 

Braintree, Ma (December 8, 2011) – The sixth and final round F1 Boston’s 2011 Fall Frenzy Adult League was completed Monday night – wrapping up another great season with the crowning of champions in both classes. In the heavyweight division, Robert Bain wins the season-long points race, while Gregory Cusato takes the round. In Lightweight, Jay Hanscom sweeps both the round and the series title. Each of the six rounds is a three-heat contest – two 30-lap races and a 40-lap final. Here’s a look at the highlights:

            Gregory Cusato turned in his best round of the season, grabbing 37 points and the victory. He won the first heat and the final, came in fourth in the second and also earned a fast lap bonus point. The win helps Cusato claim second place for the season with 140 points. John Hinze took second place in the final round powered by winning the middle heat and taking second in the final for 32 points – he ends up fourth in the standings. Third place in the round went to series champion Robert Bain with 28 points (2^nd in heat one, 3^rd in the final) – he coasted to the title with 190 points, 50 better than the next closest competitor. Viken Mardirossian came in fourth with 26 points (2^nd in heat two, 4^th in two heats) and fifth for the series with 112 points.  David Burton and Peter Sigourney rounded out the scoring with 22 points each. Sigourney finishes the series in with 127 points for third place.    

            In the Lightweight division, Jay Hanscom had an impressive finish to the season – winning the first heat and the final, grabbing two fast laps to score 35 points. With the strong performance, Hanscom, who led the standings coming into the final round, locked up the series title. John Cope took second place in the round powered by finishing second in the first heat and the final to earn 30 points. Robert Lang grabbed 26 points by finishing all three contests in the top five – he lands in fifth place in the standings with 120. Rich Hemingway was fourth with 23 points – good enough to lock up second place for the series 142. Alex Faust earned 20 points on the strength of winning the second heat – he moved the up a spot to take third place in the standings. Jacob Scott (13 points in the round) finishes fourth in the standings with 130 points.
