F1 Boston Summer / Fall Junior League Round 9 Report
 
Braintree, MA (November 14, 2011) – The ninth round of F1 Boston Fall Junior League took place last week, and the season-long point races are tightening up with only two rounds left before the championship. The 11-round League features 7 classes to ensure each racer enjoys the highest level of competition their age, size, ability and experience permits. Each racer competes in three heats per round. Here’s a look at the results:
     In Group 1A Elite, Nick Lascuola had an impressive round highlighted by winning two heats and placing fifth in the other, plus a fast lap bonus point to win the event with 31 points. Lascuola sits in third place in the season standings with 144 points. Jason Cheal took second with a win, a second and a fifth place in his three heats, as well as two fast laps to earn 30 points, moving him into sixth place in the standings. Austin Dowler was third with 27 points, powered by winning one heat, placing second in another and grabbing a fast lap bonus point. Dowler sits atop the standings with 164 points, just 5 ahead of second place.   Jonathan Schores won a heat and took second in another, earning 25 points for fourth place in his first race at the 1A Elite level. Joe Acero took fifth with a second place and a third to earn 22 points. Three racers earned 20 points to tie for sixth – Isabelle Beecy, Miranda Hebert and Peter Linscott.
     Group 1A’s season standings leader, Nikolai Gabardi, took the round, winning one heat as well as placing third and fifth in his other two heats plus a fast lap bonus point to grab 27 points. Second place was a logjam of three racers – Gregory Maloney (a first and third), Christian Rogers (a first and two fifths) and Will Shames (a second and third) – all earning 24 points. The group also holds fourth (Rogers – 161), fifth (Shames - 158) and sixth place (Maloney - 141) in the season standings. Evan Phillips claimed fifth place in the round with 20 points: he’s in third place in the standings at 165. Danny Rounds completed the scoring with 19 points.
     Group 1B’s ninth round was hotly contested: only 7 points separated the top eight racers. Dmitri Berardi took the honors with 28 points that featured two wins and a second place finish. Berardi moves into fourth place in the standings. Austin Nelson took second with 27 points, fueled by first, third and fifth place results in the heats. Nelson holds second place in the standings at 188. Justin Rusko earned third place with a victory in his second heat and a third in his first heat, plus a fast lap for a 26-point total. 
Brandon Haley was next with 25 points highlighted by second place finishes in his final two heats. Jake Yazijian was fifth with a second, third and fifth for 24 points. He leads the series with at 195 points. Jacob Beauchesne rounded out the top six with 22 points, powered by a victory in his third heat, he’s also fifth in the season standings. Luke Marcheski and Kendra Levesque tied for seventh with 21 points. Marcheski sits in third place in the standings at 166, Levesque is in sixth place at 135.
     Group 2A’s Ryan Kuhn won the round with 29 points – winning two heats and placing third in the other, while earning three fast lap bonus points. The victory puts him back on top in the standings with 188 points. Simon White and Dylan Villa tied for second, earning 22 points. Villa grabbed a victory in his second heat and finished third in the others; he’s in fourth place at 150. White won a heat and took third in another and sits in second place in the standings – just 5 points off the lead at 183. Ryan Graf was next, placing second in two heats and earning a fast lap for 21 points. Ian Fastert and Matthew Stearns tied for fifth with 20 points – Stearns won a heat and took fifth in another plus a fast lap, and Fastert’s round was highlighted by two second place finishes. Bryce Czuba, who’s in third place for the season at 162, placed sixth with 19 points.
     Group 2B was another highly competitive class, with the top 7 racers all within 3 points of each other. Shane McCullen prevailed powered by a first and a second place in the heats, plus 3 fast lap bonus points to tally 26. The win also kept McCullen comfortably in the lead of the season standings – with 194 points he enjoys a 29-point lead over the field. Karlin Levesque, Andres Albornoz, Colin McMullen tied for second with 24 points. Levesque won her third heat and also took a second and a fourth, plus a fast lap point – her 24 points gives her a 165 total and keeps her in second place in the standings. Albornoz won his second heat, finished second in the first and third in the final heat – the strong round helped him jump up a spot to third place in the standings at 161. McMullen was consistently competitive throughout the round – finishing second in each heat.
    Next in 2B was Fiachra Quinn with 23 points earned on a victory in the final heat and top 5 finishes in the others, plus a fast lap bonus point. Michael Toner and Thomas Briggs were next with 22 points – both won a heat, and placed second and third in the others plus a fast lap point. Toner is currently in fifth place in the standings at 151. Nick Friend scored 19 points highlighted by winning his second heat to secure fourth in the standings.
     In Group 3A Andrew O’Leary took the round with a 26-point performance that included two wins and third. His 154-point total for the season places him second in the standings. The standings leader, Jonathan Trieloff, was next with 23 points fueled by winning the second heat and placing second in the last heat. At 209, he has a commanding 55-point lead in the standings. Ronan Quinn to third with 22 points that included second place finishes in two heats and a third in the other. He’s fourth in the standings. Jack Fedele (17 points) and Yardley Quinn (14 points) rounded out the top five scoring.
   Ethan Kmiecik was dominant in 3B – he won all three of his heats and scored fast lap points in each to grab 33 points. The round moved him into fifth place in the standings. Next was points leader Joey DeAscentis, taking a first, second and third in his heats to earn 24 points. At 166, DeAscentis has a slim 6-point advantage in the standings. Alec Schmidt was third with 21 points that featured second place finishes in two heats. Michael Pedro was fourth with 19 points earned from placing second, third and fourth in his heats. He is currently third in the standings at 128. Mason Lukowski placed fifth with 17 points fueled by top five finishes in each of his heats. He remains second in the standings just 6 points off the pace. Ryan MacDonald rounded out the scoring with 14 points. 
     Junior League competitors may enter as many rounds as desired – drivers competing for the season championships must attend at least 8 rounds – the best 8 rounds for each count towards the final championship positions. Points in each round are awarded to the by the top 10 finishers in descending order, with the drivers turning in the fastest lap in each race picking up an extra point. The top 6 drivers from each class will earn a spot in the Season Finale. Standings are updated after each event and can be found at www.F1Boston.com/league_results.htm. The League is open to all drivers with F1 Boston Junior Competition License that have completed an F1 Boston Junior Novice Racing Academy or Camp.
