F1 Boston’s Winter Adult League Kicks-Off Pro Round One
Braintree, MA (January 27, 2011) – Round one of F1 Boston’s Winter Adult Pro League was held last Friday – as always the competition was intense. Here’s a look at the action:
![]() Heavy Weight Division
In the heavyweight division, tight racing ruled among the top three drivers with each winning a heat. John Hintze took the honors by winning heat two and placing second in the others for a 38-point round. Jay Hanscom was second with 32 points highlighted by winning the first heat, placing second in the middle heat and fifth in the final run. Just a point back was Richard Blanchard at 31 – he won the final event and placed second in the middle heat. Ray Kobs finished fourth, placing second in each heat for 24 points. Mark Keene took fifth with 22 points.
Light Weight Division
The lightweight division also enjoyed some spirited competition. Rob Johnson had a big night scoring 39 points for the victory, fueled by winning the first heat and placing second in the next two, plus a fast lap bonus point. Jacob Scott was second; he won the final, placed third in the other heats and grabbed a fast lap for a 35-point total. Jeff Gutterson took third with 31 points, including a win in the first heat and second in the final, plus the other fast lap point. Joseph Mega was fourth – he won the second heat and earned 24 points. There was a three-way logjam for fifth place with Lenny Mangano, Alexander Gomes and Arnold Milks each grabbing 15 points.
Round two for the Pro League is slated for February 3rd. The F1 Boston Adult Winter League offers racing in three classes: Pro, Sprint and Rookie. Each class offers six rounds of competition – rounds include a practice session and three races. Points are earned towards a season-ending Final Championship Race, with the top 6 drivers in each weight class advancing to the Finals. The format includes one race drop; five of the six rounds count towards determining who makes it to the Championships. All races take place at F1 Boston, a state-of-the-art facility featuring two top-notch, European styled courses. Here are the current Pro League standings:
