F1 Boston’s Winter Adult League: Pro Round Six Report

Friday – a great event featuring hot competition for bragging rights in the series points race and qualifying for the Championship Final. Here’s a look at the action:Heavy Weight Division
Richard Blanchard closed out the season in heavyweight by winning the round and taking the series victory as well. He scored 43 points – the high points total for the season – winning all three heats and a fast lap bonus point. Blanchard’s season total of 180 takes the title, which he grabbed for good in round five, by 26 points. Ray Kobs was second with 37 points powered by placing second in the three heats and a fast lap point. The round moves him into fourth place for the series with 123 points. Third place in round six went to Otto Kinzel with 26 points. John Hintze was next with 24 points by placing top 5 in all three heats – he takes second for the season at 154. Mark Keene rounded out the top five with 22 points, earning top five finishes across the board. At 136, Keene finishes third in the standings for the season. Jay Hanscom was fifth for the series with 119 points.
Light Weight Division
Round six shook up the standings dramatically in the lightweight class. Joe Mega posted 39 points for top honors powered by winning the first and final heats, place third in the middle contest and a fast lap. The win catapults him from third place into victory lane for the series with 155 points. Jacob Scott posted his personal best round of season with 36 points by placing second in the first two heats and third in the final, jumping him from sixth to second place for the season at 143. Next was Alexander Gomes with 24 points – he finished third in all three heats. Gomes drops from the lead spot to third for the season with 135 points. Jeff Gutterson placed fourth, scoring 23 points highlighted by winning the second heat. With 123 points, he holds fifth place for the series. Richard Hemingway took fifth place with 20 points, grabbing third place in the first heat – he ends the season in the fourth spot with 127 points.
Next up is the Championship final for the Pro League, with the top eight drivers earning a spot in the line-up. The F1 Boston Adult Winter League offers racing in three classes: Pro, Sprint and Rookie. Each class offers six rounds of competition – rounds include a practice session and three races. Points are earned towards a season-ending Final Championship Race, with the top drivers in each weight class advancing to the Finals. The format includes one race drop; five of the six rounds count towards determining who makes it to the Championships. All races take place at F1 Boston, a state-of-the-art facility featuring two top-notch, European styled courses. Here are the current Pro League standings:
