F1 Boston Winter/Spring Junior League Race Report: Round 3
 
Braintree, MA (February 14, 2012) – Round 3 of F1 Boston’s Winter Junior League is in the books after another great turnout for a weekend of adrenaline-pumping action. Here’s a look at the highlights:
 
The season-long standings are tight and there seems to be a shake up every round in Group 1AA. Kevin Manning took top honors in Round 3, earning 26 points highlighted by placing second in the first and third heats, plus two fast lap bonus points. Manning moves into second place in the standings with 67 points, just four pegs off the lead. Isabelle Beecy came in second, winning the final heat and taking third in heat #2 to earn 23 points. Jason Cheal was next with 22 points fueled by a victory in the first heat and fourth in the final. Jason moves into a tie for second in the standings with Manning. Peter Linscott was fourth – he won heat #2 highlighting his 20-point round to remain fifth in the season-long standings. Nikolai Gabardi placed fifth, one point back at 19. He’s fourth in the standings one point back from the second place at 66. Joe Acero earned 18 points to maintain his lead for the series with 71.
 
In Group 1A, Christian Rogers prevailed for the second straight round by winning the second and third contests, plus fourth in heat #1 for 30 points. Rogers takes over the standings lead with 85 points. Luke Marcheski was just a point back at 29, winning the heat #1, placing second in the middle race and fifth in the final, plus two fast lap points. Marcheski moves into second in the standings with 71 points. Austin Nelson earned third, placing top five on all three heats for 23 points, tying him for fourth in the standings with Jonathan Schores at 61. Dimitri Bernardi was next earning 22 points highlighted by second in the first heat and third in the final. Jake Yazijian rounded out the top five with 21 points – and third place for the season at 64 points.
 
Group 1B continues to put on impressive displays of hotly-contested racing. Kendra Levesque earned the Round 3 victory, compiling 30 points by winning her first heat and taking second and third in the other two. The victory earns her a share of second place in the standings, deadlocked with Cory Dron and Deanna Horacio, with season total of 73 points. Wallef Nogueira took second, winning the final heat and placing third and fifth in the others, plus three fast lap bonus points for a total of 28. Christian Abbate placed third with 27 points fueled by winning the second heat, placing second in the final and earning a fast lap point. Abbate is on top of the season standings with 82 points.
 
Michael Panico was fourth, with second place finishes in his first and third heats for 24 points. Cory Dron and Eamon Whitmore both won a heat, along with top fives in the others to grab 23 points each and a tie for the fifth spot in the round. Brandon Haley (22 points in the round) and Patrick Doyle (16 points) are tied in the season-long standings for fifth place at 68 points.
 
Just four points separated the top five finishers in Group 2AA. Ryan Kuhn took top honors, scoring 23 points fueled by winning the final heat, placing second in heat #1 and grabbing a fast lap point. Kuhn is second in the standings with 60 points. Fiachra Quinn earned second with runner-up finishes in the final two heats to earn 22 points and a tie for fourth in the standings with Matthew Stearns at 51. Next was Bruno Epstein with 21 points, winning the first heat and grabbing top five in the others. Dylan Villa and Shane McCullum tied for fourth – each won a heat. Villa takes over the top spot in the standings with 66 points. Josh Melnick – 15 points in the round – is third in the standings at 54 points.
 
Group 2A’s Roee Meyuhas and Michael Toner tied for top honors, each with 23 points. Meyuhas won the final, placed second in heat #1, earned a fast point, and lands first place in the standings with 75 points – 25 ahead of the field. Toner won the middle heat, placed third in the others and grabbed a fast lap point. He’s third in the standings at 47. Evan Dawley and Cameron Dunlap tied for third at 21 points. Dawley took second in heats #1 and #3 and second in the standings with 50 points. Highlighting Dunlap’s first round of the series was winning the final heat and grabbing two fast laps. Colin McMullen rounded out the top five in the round with 19 points – he’s also fifth in the standings (36 points). Ryan Lock earned 14 points and holds the fourth spot in the standings at 46 points.
 
Raymond Parent earned the Round 3 victory in 2B with 28 points by winning his first and final heats, placing third in the middle heat and grabbing a fast lap – he’s third in the season-long chase with 69 points. Ethan Kmiecik took second winning his first two heats, placing third in the final and earning a fast lap for 27 points. Reagan Parent was third with 24 points, including a victory in the first heat, a second in the final and three fast laps. Reagan leads in the standings with 77 points. Three racers – Thomas Briggs, Hayden Duffy and Quinn Yardley – tied for fourth with 19 points each. Briggs is fourth in the standings with 63; Duffy is one point back at 62. Jack Bennett – 18 points in the round – is second in the points chase with 75.
 
Group 3A’s Mason Lukowski grabbed victory a second straight victory, scoring 25 points with a first, second and third place result – and fourth place in the standings at 50 points. Joey DeAscentis was next with two seconds and a third for 23 points and third in the season standings (64 points). Alec Schmidt took third with 22 points including a win in the final. Schmidt remains in first place in the standings with 71 points. Ronan Quinn (20 points) and Michael Pedro (12 points) rounded out the scoring. Quinn is second in the standings with 67 points and Pedro is fifth at 30.
 
In Group 3B, Ryan MacDonald was victorious for the second round in a row, winning all three of his heats, along with fast lap points in each for a perfect score of 33. With 90 points in the season standings, he has an impressive 23-point lead on the field. Nehal Ramlukan grabbed victories in two heats to earn 26 points and second place in the round, as well as second place in the standings with 67 points. Aiden Jennette earned third place, including second place finishes in two heats and a fast lap. Charlie Marcheski was fourth with 20 points, taking a second and two third place results. Alyssa Abbate rounded out the top five with 19 points – she’s third in the standings at 58 points. Ido Meyuhas (16 points in the round) is fourth overall at 56 and Danielle Lawton is fifth with 48 points.
 
Junior League competitors may enter as many rounds as desired – drivers competing for the season championships must attend at least 7 rounds. Points in each round are awarded to the by the top 10 finishers in descending order, with the drivers turning in the fastest lap in each race picking up an extra point. The top 6 drivers from each class will earn a spot in the Season Finale. Standing are updated after each event and can be found at www.F1Boston.com/league_results.htm. The League is open to all drivers with F1 Boston Junior Competition License that have completed an F1 Boston Junior Novice Racing Academy or Camp.
