Richard Blanchard (HW) & Alexander Gomes (LW) Win Again

Braintree, MA (February 16, 2015) – Round 3 of F1 Boston’s Adult Winter Pro League is in the books with an entertaining round complete with both dominant performances and tightly-contested match-ups. The 6-round Pro League is designed for drivers who are looking to race in a tight and seriously competitive environment.  Each round features a 5-minute qualifier preceding two 30-lap heats and a 40-lap final.  The top drivers from each weight class earn a birth in the season finale Championship race – each driver’s best five rounds count towards the championship.  Here’s a look at the action:

Heavyweight Division

Richard Blanchard won his third consecutive round in the heavyweight division, earning 41 points by winning the first and final heats, placing third in heat #2 plus all three fast lap bonus points. With 110 points Blanchard he has an impressive 26-point cushion atop the standings. Ryan Duke grabbed second with 28 points highlighted by taking second in heat #2 and the final – he’s also second in the standings with 84 points. Dave Burton took third with 26 points by winning heat #2, bookended by landing fifth in both heat #1 and the final. Keene is fifth for the season at 72, just a point behind a third place log jam between Ray Kobbs and Freddie Fawcett. Kobbs was fourth in the round with 25 points powered by placing second in heat #1 and fourth in the final. Fawcett was fifth at 24 points including third in the final, fourth in heat #1 and fifth in the middle heat.

Lightweight Division

In Lightweight, Alexander Gomes took top honors for the third time this season with a perfect score of 45 – winning all three races and earning the three fast laps as well. With 109 points on the season, he has a commanding 44-point advantage on the field. Rodrigo Dias took second with 27 points by placing second in the two heats – with 64 points he and Jeff Gutterson are tied for third in the standings. Gutterson was third in the round at 26 after placing second in the final, fourth in heat #1 and fifth in heat #2. Partrick Curtin was next with 22 points highlighted by a third place result in heat #2 and fourth in the final. Nathan Laverdure rounded out the top five with 18 points including a fourth place finish in heat #2 – his 65 points on the season land him second in the standings.
