East Bridgewater, MA (June 11, 2014) – The first round of F1 Boston’s Summer Outdoor League is in the books and we’re off to another great season. This adult league features 6 rounds of racing in two weight divisions with each round consisting of a practice session and three 12-lap heats on F1 Outdoors’ Grand Prix course. Each driver’s best 5 rounds will count towards the League Championship, with the top 3 drivers in each class earning trophies and discounts towards future competition. Here’s a round up of the action:
In the heavyweight division Jim Cipullo grabbed a convincing victory, earning 39 points by winning the final two heats, placing third in heat #1 plus a fast lap bonus point. Shaun Abbate was second at 33 powered by winning the first heat and taking second in the final plus two fast laps. Alan Morrison was third with 28, placing second in heat #1 and fourth in the others. Fourth place went to Ryan Summe with 23 points highlighted by a third place finish in the middle heat and fourth in heat #1. David Burton was fifth at 22 after taking third in the final and fifth in the others.
Jacob Scott took top honors in lightweight – he won the first two heats, was fourth in the final plus two fast laps to earn 38 points. Tim Robertson was second with 39 points highlighted by winning the final and grabbing third in heat #2. Third place went to Peter Sigourney at 25 powered by placing second in the final and third in heat #1. Nathan Laverdure was next with 24 points, featuring a second place result in the first heat and fifth in heat #2. Mark Keene rounded out the top five with 21 points highlighted by taking second in heat #2.
